Zac Who?
I'm Zac. Zac Hester. I was born and mostly raised in Rapid City, SD. I live in Colorado Springs, CO with my wife Shannon, my son, William, my daughter, Zoe, and my dog, Laika. I was formerly employed as an embedded software engineer with Garmin International. I have a B.S. in computer engineering from SD School of Mines and Technology.
I've become a bit of an all-round endurance athlete. I enjoy lap swimming, run three-to-four days a week, and pedal around on a bike. I've completed three marathons, numerous half marathons, several trail runs, a 10-mile obstacle course race, and a handful of sprint-distance triathlons.
When I can, I enjoy rock/alpine climbing, backpacking, and mountain biking.
Although a lot of my interests are centered around fundamental math/physics, I'm a bit of a software geek. In the course of my engineering education and the last twenty years of being employed to write some kind of software, I've become attached to the software engineering process. I really enjoy solving puzzles and tackling hard engineering problems on my own. I have a critical eye for optimized algorithms, and direct-path solutions.
My other geeky hobbies include playing the guitar, robotics (including Lego robotics), 3D modeling/animation, drawing, writing, and classic sci-fi movies and TV shows.
